Hosting Career Conversations with the @WomenCyberjutsu Board of Directors

MansiMusa, July 14, 2018July 18, 2018

I had a chance last month to host a panel discussion with the leaders of Womens Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC). For those of you who don’t know about WSC, it’s a nonprofit focused on empowering women to succeed in the cybersecurity industry. I first met the  Founder Lisa Jiggetts in 2016 during my roadtrip across the country for the PBS Documentary, Life Hackers. I was so touched by her down-to-earth and candid guidance on how to be a part of the industry and really focus on developing technical skills.

So it was a no-brainer when I was approached to host the monthly Career Conversations with the leadership team of the organization. Please excuse any mistakes you may hear from my end but do take a listen as these superwomen give insights from personal to professional aspects of the industry.

We’ll discuss topics such as: what made them decide on IT or Cyber Security, what were some of their work/life challenges, and what skills and education do they see as essential to success? Whether you are an experienced professional or just contemplating a future in Cyber Security, WSC’s Career Conversations allows you to have a conversation with women making a difference. Join us and share in Career Conversations with successful women in cyber security! You can hear the entire conversation here.

Government Resources

Cybersecurity services are not just for large businesses, rather the government has supplied the following resources to help level the playing field. I have also included few of the specific publications that I have had to use. 1) National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) .    ⇒ Developing security…

Password Security

October 4, 2016October 5, 2016

The Problem: Almost every site these days asks for a username and password. Some of the sites have their own requirement like it must have an uppercase and two alphanumerics and the length must at least be 10 characters. Okay that may have been an exaggeration but it seriously does feel…
